Exergy TWENTY12 Professional Women’s Cycling Team has announced the signing of Canadian talent Rhae Shaw to their 2012 roster.

Shaw joins the team after a breakout debut season in 2011 following several years racing as an elite triathlete.  She impressed with podium performances at NRC and Canadian National Championship events while riding unattached before joining the Canadian National team for two racing blocks in Europe this summer.  In her first UCI appearance at the Tour de Bretagne Feminin she won the time trial, and backed that up with a solo victory in a difficult road stage to finish third on GC.  She also won the time trial at the Tour Du Limousin (also a UCI 2.2) and took the leaders' jersey before losing it to an untimely puncture.

She was selected by the Canadian team for the World Road Championships in Copenhagen, where she placed a stellar seventh in the time trial and worked hard for the team during the road race.

"I have always paid close attention to equipment and being on the best equipment was a high priority for me.  With Felt, SRAM, and Zipp as well as the fabric technology advances from Pearl Izumi in their speedsuit, I know that I am on the fastest equipment out there," Shaw said.

"We're very excited about Rhae joining the team," said Exergy TWENTY12 general manager Nicola Cranmer. "We watched her progression all season.  She started as a great time trialist, so that is how people know her, but she has really been developing her road skills.  She races aggressively, and her strength on both the flats and the hills make her a powerful all rounder."

She joins an already impressive roster which includes Olympic Gold medalist Kristin Armstrong, and 40 time junior/U23/collegiate National Champion Coryn Rivera as well as many other successful returning riders returning from the 2011 squad.
