Canadians in Arizona

We just finished an extended telephone interview with the riders of Team Elita in Arizona (plus Gord Fraser of Mercury, who was having dinner with them). We will publish the results of our conversation in the next day or so.

Team Schwinn/Toyota 2000

Schwinn Bicycles Canada and Toyota Canada are extremely pleased and excited to announce the continuation of their relationship for the year 2000. Plans for the summer race season include full participation in the Canada Cup race series, as well as involvement in a number of provincial, local and international races - both road and mountain.

A major part of the 2000 program will be the revamped Schwinn/Toyota Canada Professional Mountain Bike Team, this summer featuring 3 of Canada's premier riders. This year's roster includes: Newly signed 3-time Canadian National Downhill Champion, Eric Cseff, returning member and Canadian top-ten mainstay, XC rider Julian Hine and XC rider (and new mother!) Lisa Holmgren. Joining the professional Schwinn/Toyota Canada squad will be Schwinn/Toyota Grassroots racers from across Canada, some returning from last year, and some brand new.

"We firmly believe that the 2000 Schwinn/Toyota Canada team is a National mountain bike force to be reckoned with," says Schwinn promotions director Chris Burke. "Eric's reputation as a competitor speaks for itself, I know this is going to be Julian's break through year into the national top three and after taking a year off, Lisa is ready to regain her position as one of the best women XC riders in Canada."

Both Schwinn and Toyota Canada will also once again lend their support as primary sponsors of the Schwinn/Toyota Canada Cup race at Hardwood Hills, recognized as the premier mountain bike event in the Canada Cup race series.
