iSupportLocalBikeShops.com Cycling Project would like to introduce our youth development and high performance road race team for 2012. The project that started up in 2011 as the Western Cycle Development Team has now grown to include athletes from Saskatchewan and Manitoba and has a new set of sponsors on board that has facilitated the name change to the iSupportLocalBikeShops.com Cycling Project.

To ensure the 2012 season is carried out with long term athlete development in mind, we have athletes who will be racing with our Development Team, and others who will be on the High Performance Team.  The Development Team athletes will be taking part in races in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, while the High Performance group will hit the start line at events across Western Canada, Northern USA, Ontario and Quebec.

Leading the team will be Chris McGarity, Cuylar Conly, Emma Bandol, Pedro Peralta and Alyosha Boldt who have a plethora of National experience.  These athletes will be joined by youngsters such as Jalen and Joshua Kropf, Lukas Morin, Lucas Conly, Ari Robinson, Willem Boersma, Jess Nuefeld, Luke Turanich, and Brennen Smith.

The season will start with a Team Launch on April 28, with the first race commencing the following weekend at the Spring Classic Stage Race in Moose Jaw. June 2-3 the team will host their own stage race in Regina, and look forward to not only pulling down strong results at each race they attend, but also developing younger racers who will filter into their provincial programs and beyond.

Making the team possible this year are some great sponsors such as Fluid, Ryders Eyewear, Look, Kenda, Cycles Lambert, Murray GM- Moose Jaw,  13 Ave Food and Coffee House, Silverman Oilfield, Total Athlete, and Big Sky Cycles – Regina.

You can follow the team on Twitter @ RACEYOURBIKE or at the team web site www.iSupportLocalBikeShops.com
