August 10/12 12:22 pm - 100 Miler Mountain Bike Weekend

Posted by Editoress on 08/10/12

New Course for Canada’s 100 Mile Mountain Bike Weekend, just outside of Toronto.

In an order to make the course as fun as possible, keep it as much single track as possible and increase the rate of completion we are happy to announce that the course for 2012 will be 3 laps of a 54 km course! The marathon will still do 80k, but it will be 1.5 laps. And the relay will now be 4X27k. We hope this will enable more people to participate in a fun weekend of riding for a great cause!

The new course layout enables us to use more flowing trails, fewer climbs, keep the average speed higher and friends and family coming out to support and spectate will see a lot more action and have more opportunity to cheer people on towards accomplishing their goals.

The only 100 Miler with a relay option: At 27km per rider it is just a little longer than doing a lap at a 24 hour race, but with this format there will be less crowding on the trail and more opportunity to set your own pace while trying to beat your team mates.

Haven’t heard about the event yet? No problem you can still pre-register and save on Canada’s 100 mile mountain bike race on August 26, 2012 by registering now for the 100 mile challenge, the marathon, or this Augusts premier Relay Mountain Bike Race.

Want to be involved but don’t want to do all the tedious riding? No problem, as always volunteers are needed for a variety of assignments such as “back bacon feedzone tech” (this is the only Canadian 100 miler so we need to have a back bacon feed!), timing, drum-line drummer on a climb, feed zone helper…we need people to come out and help make this a fun weekend for everyone!

The new course will be posted early next week.

See you on the trail!
