September 17/13 19:50 pm - 10th Annual Kawartha Lakes Classic

Kawartha Lakes Classic is a Cycling Tour and scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, to be  hosted this year by the Kawartha Cycling Club.

All proceeds will benefit A Place Called Home in Lindsay, a charitable, non-profit organization that has been providing 24/7 support services to the homeless, and those at risk of becoming homeless, for more than seventeen years.

This is a touring event, not a race, and all cyclists – young and old, novice and seasoned veterans – are invited!  We are pleased to welcome this year’s celebrity rider, Dave Illman, Program Director and host of Bob’s Breakfast at 91.9 Bob FM.

All rides start and finish at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre, 27 Veterans Way.  As in previous years, participants have their choice of 25 km, 50 km, 100 km and 160 km distances.  We also offer a new Family Option that follows a 13 km route along the scenic Victoria Rail Trail.  (Riders aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.)  All routes are well marked with rest stops providing refreshments and roving support vehicles for first aid and mechanical help.  Riders will celebrate the finish with a well-deserved post-ride lunch and prizes.

Online registration is $40 for adults until midnight on Sept. 18 or $35 for those aged 16 and under.  For those without internet access, paper registration is also available by visiting A Place Called Home, 64 Lindsay Street South, during regular business hours.

Onsite registration (beginning 7:00 a.m. the day of the event) is $45 for adults or $40 for youths 16 and under.  We can only accept cash or cheques onsite.

Pledges: Online registrants have the option of creating a customized page to set a fundraising goal and invite others to sponsor them.  Challenge a friend to match or beat the pledges you collect!  Blank pledge forms may also be downloaded from our website or picked up at A Place Called Home.

Start times are 8:00 a.m. for the 100/160 km riders, and 9:30 a.m. for the 25/50 km and rail trail riders.

To register, and for complete event information, visit our website at kawarthacyclingclub.com.
