January 21/14 11:58 am - Cycling Canada Offers Mental Health in Sport Webinar

Posted by Editoress on 01/21/14

Cycling Canada would like to increase the level of interaction and professional development opportunities for cycling coaches across the country. We would like to take advantage of the access we have to key experts in cycling, and allow them to share that expertise with the community of cycling coaches. We believe the introduction of webinars is an efficient and convenient way to achieve this objective.

Topic: Mental Health in Sport.

This webinar will cover Cycling Canada's Mental Health Strategy, including the purpose and goals of the strategy, and strategies for increasing awareness, identification and intervention, treatment and resolution, and prevention. This strategy is a work in progress, and lessons learned from the first stages of implementation will be shared. Resources for anyone wishing to learn more will be provided, as well as resources and processes for seeking help for others or yourself.

This webinar will also include an introduction to the cycling NCCP structure by Elizabeth Kiraly, Domestic Development Coordinator for Cycling Canada.

Speaker: Andrea Wooles Manager, Integrated Support Team, Cycling Canada

Andrea Wooles is the Science, Medicine, and Innovation Manager for Cycling Canada, and has been in this role since 2009. Prior to that, she consulted for a number of sports in the UK, after working for 5 years as the Physiologist for the Great Britain Cycling Team. She has a hand in the LTAD world as well, as the Technical Consultant for the Canadian Sport for Life project in British Columbia.
