On September 18th, the organization of the Tour de Beauce, in conjunction with Sport Events Region Lac-Mégantic, the City of Lac-Mégantic and the National Parc du Mont Mégantic, will present the Granfondo Lac-Mégantic in the beautiful region of Estrie.

This event will provide cyclists of all levels a season-ending ride on great courses that will be dressed in their most beautiful Fall colors. For the first time, in addition to the ascent of Mount Washington and other major passes, the organization will offer the optional climb of Mont Megantic. This famous climb, the highest paved road in Quebec, has become over the years a legendary stage of the Tour de Beauce, and a must for North American cycling fans.

Participants can choose the route that best suits them. Three options are available: 57km, 90km and 110km. The 57km route consists of the famous tour of Lake Megantic, passing through beautiful valleys, while having impressive views of the lake.

For the 90 km ride, participants also will travel this route while adding a loop in the Eastern Townships landscapes through the municipalities of St-Augustin-de-Woburn, Notre-Dame-des-Bois and Val-Racine, complemented by breathtaking views of the Mont Mégantic.

Those who choose the 110 km route will follow the 90 km circuit, plus the climb up and back down Mont Mégantic before returning to the original route. For safety reasons, the clock will stop during the descent of Mont Mégantic.

Every Granfondo route will start and finish at the Mégantic Sports Centre. "We invite all cyclists to register. You can do this by receiving substantial discounts until August 21st," says Denis Bolduc, of Sport Events Region of Lac-Mégantic.

In addition to the breathtaking scenery, the organization of the Granfondo offers participants timed results, a gourmet box lunch, a shirt and several surprises. Participants will ride in a secure environment and participate in a lively event.

The registration, course and event details are available online at granfondolacmegantic.com. For further information, you can contact the organization by phone (418-227-5894) or email (info@tourdebeauce.com).
