Chantal Blaak wins Boels Rental Ladies Tour
Chantal Blaak won the 19th edition of the Boels Rental Ladies Tour finishing on Sunday in Valkenburg (Ned). The Boels-Dolmans rider positioned herself in the final decisive group that was established by Limburg. The stage, which followed the route of the men's Amstel Gold Race for men, was won by Kasia Niewiadoma (Rabo Liv). The Polish rider took her second win of the race.
Boels-Dolmans controlled the final stage according to the winner from Rab-Liv. "On the occasions that I could build a gap on the climb, I received no support from any others and Boels-Dolmans, with so many riders in the group, could always rectify the situation. That's why I focused on the stage victory my second in the race was definitely very nice, especially the finish on the Cauberg. I am satisfied with this stage. Boels-Dolmans took the well earned victory here. "
Ellen van Dijk was second in the overall and was just three seconds behind her teammate Blaak. "That's why I was sure of a good finish" Blaak said, who also spoke of the team victory. "We have had a strong year, and have finished again as a team here. I have to thank my team, now I know how to win a stage race for the first time in my career. Extra nice that it happens in the sponsors country. I had a very nice spring and am glad I to add this victory to my palmares of this year. "
Blaaks' team mate Karol-Ann Canuel (Can) finished 4th overall and fellow Canadian Leah Kirchmann (Team Liv - Plantur) tenth.
