Road Worlds - Plouay, France

Tchmil was brought back by the Italians after 3 kilometres (6.5 km to go), and then the attacks started in earnest. Every attempt to get away was brought back (mainly by the Italians) until Francesco Casagrande (Ita) broke clear with 4 kilometres left. After he was caught with about a kilometre left, Tchmil tried a counter-attack. However, Davide Rebellin (Ita) went after him, taking Romans Vainsteins (Lat) and Zbigniew Spruch (Pol) with him. Vainsteins took the win, followed by Spruch and defending champion Oscar Freire (Esp). Michele Bartoli (Ita) was 4th and Tobias Steinhauser (Ger) 5th. Chann McRae (USA) was 8th.
