Track Worlds - Manchester, UK

Day 5 Morning Session

Lori-Ann Muenzer is still in the medal hunt for the women's sprint, as it goes to the final 4 riders. After beating Galina Enioukhina (Rus) in the quarter finals (2 straight), Muenzer will now face Jennie Reed (USA) in the semi's, to decide who goes on to the gold medal match, and who races for bronze. This one could go either way - Reed beat Muenzer by only 13/100ths in Qualifying. Go Lori-Ann!

Volvo-Cannondale Rides Again

There was much discussion last fall that Cannondale wanted to get out of downhill, and the downhill team, while Volvo wanted to stay in. Therefore, everything was up in the air regarding sponsorship - would Volvo work with someone else for DH, but remain with Cannondale for cross-country, etc. Well, it appears that the Volvo-Cannondale team will remain together for at least one more year, albeit in a modified and reduced form (which is exactly what manager Charlie Livermore said at the end of last season...).

The downhill team will be one person - Anne-Caroline Chausson. But what better person to have? Chausson will also continue to beat up on the women's field in Dual, probably joined on the men's side by Brian Lopes (not confirmed).

The cross-country team as yet is unconfirmed.

Happy Birthday To...

Mountain bike Downhiller Lorraine Blancher, today.
