April 1/18 2:18 am - Tim Hortons to Sponsor Fat Bike Team

Iconic Canadian donut and coffee chain Tim Hortons will sponsor a team of fat bike riders starting next Fall.  The fat bike scene continues to grow, as these oversized tire mountain bikes become more and more popular, especially for Fall and Winter riding.

"It was an obvious choice for us," explained Tim Hortons spokesperson Donna Ciambella.  "The shape of the wheel immediately brings our products to mind."

There is a growing number of fat bike race series in North America, including the Great Lakes Fat Bike Series, Cannondale Fat Bike Series, and the recent Trio Fat Bike World Championships in Talkeetna, Arkansa.

Timmies plan to have a team of six riders - three women and three men - who will race primarily in Canada and the U.S. Northeast.

"We are just starting to look for riders, so if a rider is interested, they should stopped by their local Tim Hortons and fill out an application.  Under 'Type of Employment', just write in 'Fat Bike'," said Ciambella.

Riders will be paid, however, there is no word yet on whether benefits will be cut back due to new minimum wage constraints.
