Jeanson Extends Lead

We just finished a telephone interview with Genevieve Jeanson (Team Rona) at the Redlands Classic in California, where she has won the third stage (a 19.9 kilometre out-and-back time trial) and extended her overall lead to 1:05 ahead of Kim Bruckner of Saturn.

"It was a slight uphill going out with lots of turns and corners, very technical. The false flat was quite hard. I feel that I was well prepared, so I didn't think too much about the standings, just rode my best."

Jeanson used her time trial bike with a Mavic disc rear and Cosmic Carbon front. She used a 53 tooth chain ring with 11-23 gearing (the 11 was used on the downhills).

Jeanson also says that she is enjoying riding with a team. "It is so much fun to have a team, to be supported. Melanie (McQuaid) knows all the other riders, has good advice for me."

After Redlands finishes Jeanson will be heading home rather than staying in California for Sea Otter "Yeah, I want to go home, see my family and get some rest and continue training. I will probably not go to Europe (for the World Cups), we are concentrating on the North American races."

Unofficial results for the women:

1. Genevieve Jeanson (Can) Team Rona 29:28
2. Kim Bruckner (USA) Saturn at 0:28
3. Alison Dunlap (USA) GT 1:22
4. Kim Smith (USA) Autotrader.com 1:40
5. Katrina Berger (USA) 800.com 1:51
6. Jeannie Longo (Fra) 2:26
