Saturn Duo of Teutenberg and Millward One-Two at BMC Opener

AUSTIN, Texas -- Ina Teutenberg and Anna Millward gave the thousands of cycling fans jammed into the Texas capital plenty to cheer about Saturday as they lapped the field along with another rider and then scored a one-two triumph in the opening event of the BMC Software Cycling Grand Prix.

Saturn, with nine riders in the field, set a high pace from the gun in the 60-minute event in downtown Austin, home of two-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong. Australian Anna Millward, ranked No. 3 in the world, was the first to make a move, opening a gap with Sarah Ulmer of New Zealand and the AutoTrader.com squad. Within minutues, Teutenberg, a German who resides in Park City, Utah, bridged up to the breakaway.

It took the trio about 20 minutes to lap the field on the four-corner critierium, which they accomplished with about 18 minutes left in the event. Teutenberg then took the victory while Millward was second and Ulmer third. Petra Rossner, another German riding for Saturn, was fourth.

The 90-minute men's event was scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. CDT. The Austin races are part of Armstrong's Ride for the Roses, a fund-raising event for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The core of the Saturn women's team will soon be heading to Europe for the Fleche Wallonne classic on April 18, the fourth of nine events that comprise the UCI World Cup. Millward is tied for the series lead with Mirjam Melchers of the Netherlands.
