In a statement, the UCI announced:

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic linked to the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) regrets to announce that the 2021 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships, which were scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) from 25 to 28 March, are cancelled at the request of the organisers. This is as a result of restrictions imposed by the competent authorities. The UCI is currently looking for a solution so that the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships can take place in 2021.

The last para track event to take place was the world championships in Milton, Ontario, earlier this year.
