AutoTrader.com's Tina Mayolo outsprinted Canadian sensation Genevieve Jeanson in the criterium stage of the Tour of McMinnville. Jeanson has been virtually unbeatable thus far since she won the Redlands Classic.

The Tour of McMinnville was a 3 stage omnium consisting of a 68 mile road race in the morning, followed by a 7 mile time trial in the evening and a criterium the final day.

Jeanson, who typically attacks early and rides entire races solo to the finish, began the first stage in this fashion by attacking on the first climb. Mayolo, not giving up, chased Jeanson to the end, and finished in second place, a minute behind.

The afternoons time trial, an event that consistently proves favorable for Mayolo, was an opportunity to make up time on Jeanson. The 7 mile out and back course was a gut wrencher, with the winds playing a major factor. Time trials, also a specialty of Jeanson, made the race a battle between the two. Mayolo finished 2nd behind Jeanson by 1:20.

Experience proved dominant over youth as Tina Mayolo won the final criterium. The two broke away from the field early in the race. The two worked together, but in the end, Mayolo's fast twitch sprinters legs were no match for the young Canadian.

Genevieve Jeanson won the overall race while Tina Mayolo was 2nd place in the GC.

Team BC Canada Summer Games Selection Race Change for X-Country

Due to conflicts with a Canada Cup race, the final selection race for Team B.C. will be moved from June 17th (Snowden Slug Slam) to June 23rd (Test of Metal - Squamish). We are grateful to have the cooperation of the Test of Metal organizers to allow us to use their venue for this selection race. The "Test" is a grueling 67km point-to-point XC race which is held in Squamish every year.

The C.S.G. athletes will only be using a portion of this race for qualifying however, they are free to complete the entire Test of Metal if they choose. The C.S.G. portion of the race will end at the feed station just past the Powerhouse Bridge when the athletes arrive at it for the first time.

Since the field limit for the Test of Metal is limited to 800 racers (and it sells out early every year!), anyone wishing to ride this race as a qualifying event should sign up as soon as possible.

This is the final selection race for automatic inclusion onto Team B.C.'s Canada Summer Games team, so don't miss out on this opportunity to go to London, Ontario, this summer!

If you have any further questions, please contact myself (jonathan.wornell@acterna.com) or Jeremy (bigring54@home.com) via email.

Good luck!
