Bow Cycle Junior Development Program

Bow Cycle and Former National Team Member Paul Kelly have announced the formation of a Junior Development Program in Calgary, Alberta. Paul's expertise stems from 10 years of racing, including 4 seasons of racing in Italy, and a period of professional racing for Navigators Professional Cycling Team. This was followed by two years of extremely successful coaching programs which has resulted in Gold and Silver medals at the 2001 Canada Summer Games for Carrie Tuck, 2000 and 2001 Espoir National Cyclocross Championships titles for Stuart Hughes, and impressive cross-county performances by Mark Webster. Bow Cycle's involvement in racing through the Cyclemeisters Cycling Team, has developed such riders as Jacob Erker, Scott Price, Matt Anand, and Kelly.

The Bow Cycle Junior Program includes Tuesday (intensity) and Thursday (endurance) training rides, as well as race simulation training on Sundays, and race support during Sunday races. This is a great opportunity for young riders to tap into a tremendous background of experience and knowledge to help them fast-track their life and cycling careers. The emphasis will be on developing essential life skills through commitment, training, and performance in the sport of cycling. Both mountain bike and road disciplines will be supported by the program, and interested juniors can expect to participate in both. Holistic sports nutrition lectures will also teach riders the function of various foods, and how food can be used to improve performance and health.

The cost of the program is $600 for the season. For more information, contact Jeff Smith or Paul Kelly: team@bowcycle.com.
