Pantani Suspended

Italian Marco Pantani has been suspended for 8 months for insuline, which was found during a search of his room during the 2001 Giro d'Italia. Pantani will also have to pay fines of 2,000 euros and his tream Mercatone Uno will have to pay fines of 3,400 euros. The sanction imposed by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), was originally supposed to be for one year.

On day two of the 2002 Race Across America, Mike Lau of the Ottawa Bicycle Club was sitting 9th at the Vale, OR (395.6 miles) checkpoint. His average speed over the 29 hours since the start is 13.64 mph (22km/h).
