February 9/03 7:01 am - Espoir Laval Team for 2003, Health Net Pro Cycling Team Announced

Espoir Laval 2003

The 2003 squad will start its season following the US, Quebec and Ontario calendar. The Grand Prix Cycliste de Beauce will be the major race for the month of June. Other UCI races are also on the team's calendar.

Francois Parisien and Correy Jay are the two big additions to the roster for 2003. They will compete in N. America for Espoir Laval, and in Europe for Team Pontivigni (French DN1).

Christophe Cheseau is team captain, and he will compete in Europe until the end of April with the French Team Morteau-Montbenoit (DN2).

Health Net Pro Cycling Team Announced

Momentum Sports Group, LLC, an Oakland, CA based company dedicated to the growth and management of sports and entertainment assets worldwide, is pleased to announce the formation of the 2003 Health Net Pro Cycling Team, a new professional Division III Trade Team. The title sponsor of the new Team is Health Net of California, one of the state's largest health plans.

"Given the resurgence of interest in the sport of Professional Cycling in the United States today, we decided to form a world class cycling organization that was completely focused on healthy competition as well as the safety of our team riders," said Gregory R. Raifman, who along with Thierry Attias created Momentum Sports Group, LLC. "Management of the team is committed to providing this new Division III trade team with a healthy foundation for a successful program for 2003, and to building the Team's reputation at key one-day events and many National Racing Calendar (NRC) races. Naturally it made perfect sense to join forces with Health Net, who is an expert and national leader in delivering health plans".

The team's presentation will be on Monday, February 10 in Berkeley CA

The line-up for the Health Net Pro Cycling Team includes the following riders:

• Michael Sayers, Team Road Leader: Competed in the international cycling arena for the last 11 years, during which time he was a member of the U.S. World's Team in 2002, and a former member of the Mercury Cycling Team from 1995-2002

• Russell Stevenson: Lieutenant to Chris Horner in the 2002 season for Prime Alliance Cycling

• Yauheni Seniushkin: Belarus national and a former a professional rider for Team Ceramiche Panaria-Fiordo; completed the Giro D'Italia in 2001 and 2002 and competed in the Vuelta d'Espana in 2002

• Alex Kozlov: Belarus national and a former a professional rider for a French professional team; placed 7th in the Under 23 Paris-Roubaix Race in 2002 and won the Belarus Road Race in 2002

• Chris McGovern: Former National team and professional to the Jelly Belly Cycling Team in 2002

• Alex Ivanov; Belarus National Team Member
