PacificSport Benefit Gala

On the evening of Thursday May 1st, theHudsons Bay Company will host a PacificSport Benefit Gala for the Athletes‚ Residence project. This promises to be a major event for PacificSport Canadian Sport Centre Victoria, as the Hudsons Bay Company will announce its involvement in the fundraising campaign for the PacificSport Victoria‚s Athlete Residence project.

The gala will take place in the Bay's new location on Government Street in The Bay Centre, and take place between 7pm and 9pm.

The Bay‚s PacificSport Benefit Gala will be a fun evening, with a silent auction, raffles, music, videos, refreshments and other entertainment. Also, with so many PacificSport athletes and coaches present, it should be a great social evening, not to mention an opportunity to meet many community and corporate supporters of PacificSport.

There is no charge for athletes‚ tickets, and $10 for all other attendees. All proceeds will go directly to the PacificSport Athlete Residence Fund.

The dress is Business Casual. Athletes are encouraged to wear appropriate team clothing, and others are encouraged to wear 1994 Commonwealth Games clothing should they have it.

More detailed ticket information will follow, or contact Kristy Franzen at 744-3583, ext 0 or kfranzen@pacificsport.com.

Race Marshals Wanted for Triathlons

Triathlon race directors are trying to recruit some cycling marshals to act as draft marshals, a type of referee. Draft marshals ride the bike section of triathlons, blending in with the racers and calling drafting penalities. Anyone caught drafting has to pull over and lift both wheels off the ground before continuing. The fee paid to draft marshals is $40.00 per race plus mileage. Most of the races are in this region (Toronto) and are often on Saturday or Sunday mornings. If anyone is interested, please contact Brian Taborek at: brian.taborek@sympatico.ca

Happy Birthday to....... Simon Small, who celebrated a birthday yesterday
