CABDA ACQUIRES AMERICAN BICYCLIST
120-year-old Publication to be Renamed North American Bicyclist

Homewood, IL-- July 1, 1998 -- CABDA, The Bicycle Dealers Association, has completed a purchase agreement with Willow Publishing Co. for the bicycle trade publication American Bicyclist.

CABDA has organized a full staff for North American Bicyclist, led by executive director Greg Byron (gbyron@biketrade.net), who is also the publisher. Canadian Cyclist editor/owner Robert Jones (rjones@biketrade.net) is the editor. The premier issue will be mailed the first week of October, a few weeks prior to the CABDA World Cycling Expo (Oct. 31 - Nov. 2). North American Bicyclist will be published 6 times annually, with its second mailing slated for February, 1999.

"I'm really excited to have an industry tool to effectively communicate the necessity of continuing education to the bike industry," Byron said. "North American Bicyclist will be the voice of the specialty bicycle retailer. The name change reflects our mandate to serve the bicycle industry in both the US and Canada. We believe we have the right people in place to publish a first-rate publication."

Joining Byron and Jones are Ed Benjamin (ebenjamin@biketrade.net) as On-Line Editor (http://www.biketrade.net), Bob Schmucker as Art Director, and Eliot Wineberg (ewineberg@biketrade.net) as Sales Manager.

The magazine is already enjoying a host of overall support from its CABDA membership, the Canadian bicycling industry, Key Industry manufacturers and dealers who have e-mailed, phoned or faxed the CABDA Association prior to the official press release.

North American Bicyclist will launch an online, interactive edition August 1st, at www.biketrade.net . "An up-to-date and relevant online bicycle industry publication is long overdue," said Jones. We hope to make biketrade.net a useful information resource and tool for the bicycle industry.‰
