Tour de France

Lance Armstrong (US Postal) has taken the yellow jersey after his team put on a totally dominating performance in the team time trial to win by over a minute ahead of Tyler Hamilton's Phonak squad. Jan Ullrich's T-Mobile team finished fourth. New regulations limit how much time any team can lose in the TTT to a maximum of 3 minutes.

US Postal takes the top five spots in the GC, with Armstrong leading Hincapie by 10 seconds and Floyd Landis in third at 16 seconds. Tyler Hamilton is 8th, 36 seconds back, and Ullrich drops to 16th, 55 seconds back. Postal lost Benjamin Novel early on, and at this time he is in danger of being eliminated because of the time cutoof - ironically by his own team. Another note of interest: this will be Armstrong's sixtieth yellow jersey, tying him with Miguel Indurain for 3rd on the all time list for days in yellow.
