Team Devo And Powerbar Present The 2005 Spring Series

Team dEVo, Vancouver’s top youth cycling program, is pleased to announce the 2005 Powerbar Spring Road Race Series. With a total of ten events throughout Langley, Aldergrove, and Abbotsford BC, the Spring Series offers some of the best and toughest road racing courses in the province. Racing starts on Sunday February 27 and continues with races through to March 27.

Utilizing a three-category system (A/B/C), cyclists have the ability to choose a category that matches their early season form or lack thereof. From first-time racer to elite Cat 1, the Spring Series offers a relaxed but competitive atmosphere for all athletes. All races are well-marshaled, safe and run on time.

On Sunday February 27th we begin our traditional easy-going start to BC’s road cycling season with a flat rectangular circuit along the Fraser River, just east of historic Fort Langley. On Saturday March 5th a rolling course weaves its way through South Langley. Sunday March 6th, the true fun begins with an assault on Armstrong hill, a true climber’s delight. Saturday March 12th we return to the River Road circuit in Fort Langley, but this time for a Points Race. On Sunday March 13th, riders tackle the unrelenting rollers of the Bradner road race course. Saturday March 18th will challenge racers up the never-ending false flats of the Team Atomic BC Cup course. Sunday March 19th racers face more hills on the twisty course around Aldergrove Lake.

The Spring Series ends with the Devo Spring Classic Stage Race, a three-event race held over the final weekend March 26-27th. The Zero Avenue Road Race on Saturday March 26th is the site of the first race, followed by the Gloucester Industrial Park criterium on the morning of Sunday March 27th, finishing off with an out-and-back time trial on Sunday afternoon near River Road that will test everyone’s true form.

Cycling BC licenses are mandatory for the Spring Series. Everyone who has not already purchased their license through Cycling BC can do so online via Karelo.com or purchase a one-event license (per race) for $30.

Spring Series race fees are $26 for the first race and $21 for every race thereafter. Great product prizes from our sponsors and a ton of cash is up for grabs at every race. Over $3000 in prize money was awarded at the 2004 Spring Series.
