Sabine Spitz, Mountain Bike World Champion 2003 and bronze medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, has just signed a new contract with team Specialized. The contract runs for two years, with an option for another two.

This news comes only a few days after her former team, Fusion Pro Racing, announced that a mutual agreement had been signed to dissolve an existing contract between Spitz and the German bike manufacturer Fusion. Fusion's team manager Joerg Sehr declared that Fusion was no longer capable of providing extensive professional support for Spitz after one of the main sponsors of the team had suddenly renounced his involvement early in January.

Spitz is very happy to be joining such a strong team. Negotiations between the two parties had been going on for several weeks. "Things couldn't have turned out better since we were sort of running out of time", said her manager and spouse Ralf Schaeuble, "Sabine is planning to race for the first time this year at the Swisspower Cup in only one week's time. Specialized really was our premier choice since they are well known for having some of the best racing bikes, equipment and team support in the sport of mountain biking."
