OCA Makes Donation to London Velodrome

The Ontario Cycling Association is pleased to announce on behalf of its members that it will be making a financial contribution to the Forest City Velodrome located in London Ontario.

The OCA will be providing $10,000 towards the purchase of shares in the track. The purchase will be made over two years with the initial $5,000 being presented at the Grand Opening this weekend.

The development of an indoor Velodrome in London is truly one of the most exciting opportunities for cycling in this province. The Velodrome is the result of the tireless work of Rob Good, Albert Coulier and the Forest City Velodrome Association. This facility is one of only three indoor cycling tracks in North America - two in Canada!

We look forward to working with this group in developing tracks cyclists at all levels.

Ekimov Injured

We now have confirmation that Viatcheslav Ekimov was injured in a crash, while training near Austin, Texas with his Discovery team captain Lance Armstrong. There is still confusion as to how he was injured, with some reports stating a car was involved, and others saying Ekimov hit a pothole. It appears that, at a minimum, Ekimov has a broken sternum, and will be out of action for at least 6 weeks, menaing that he would have very little time to get ready for the Tour. Armstrong was not injured in the accident.
