More Rider Suspensions at the Tour of Portugal

Four members of the Italian team Mobilvetta - Paolo Alberati, Graziano Recinella, Mario Monzoni and Renzo Tagnetti - were forced to quit the race before the second stage after their hematocrit (red blood cell proportion) was higher than 50%. In other „doping news‰, Cofidis has stated that they will drop Franesco Casagrande if it turns out that he has been using banned substances (he tested positive earlier in the season at Romandie).
