New PEI Road Cycling Club

A PEI road cycling club will enter its first year of operation. The club is based out of Summerside, PEI, and is hosting a number of races and rides throughout July and August.

From road races to time trials to the ultimate "Biking for Breakfast" challenge (a 273 km trek from one tip of PEI to the other), Cyc-Isle Cyling has something for every cyclist's genre. You do not need to be a resident of Summerside or even a resident of PEI to join the Club. The Club also has a web site (www.cycisle.therapeuticchild.ca) and there is no cost to join.

"The goal is to provide a supportive and challenging environment in order to develop riders' strength, speed, and endurance," says Ken Trenholm, the Club's founder. Trenholm has participated in a few races in his youth and now at 33 years of age (after three children and years of non-saddle time) is getting back on the saddle again and starting a bike club to provide cyclists with the opportunity to be challenged in order to reach their potential on the road. Trenholm is particularly looking ahead to the August 13, 2005 Biking for Breakfast Challenge. He is hope this Challenge will be an annual event to support the School Breakfast Programs on PEI.
