Note to pre-registered riders: We are a bit behind sending confirmations and updating teh online list due to the busy weekend (Beauce and MTB Nationals coverage). EVERYONE who registered online WILL receive a confimation.... if not, it is because your internet provider bounced it back (Sprint, universities and gov't are especially bad). The complete list of all pre-registered riders will be posted tomorrow (June 23rd) morning. If there are any problems with your registration we will attempt to contact you to sort it out. EVERYTHING will be done to ensure that everyone who pre-registers WILL be alowed to race on Sunday. If you have any questions PLEASE contact us ASAP at register@canadiancyclist.com



Ontario Road Race Championships, Conestogo Lake – Sunday June 26, 2005

SISU Ontario Cup Road Series #4

ExtremeRoad.com is pleased to present the annual Provincial Road Race Championships on Sunday June 26, 2005 at Conestogo Lake Conservation Area, near Drayton, Ontario. This is race #4 of the prestigious SISU Ontario Cup Road Series, co-sponsored by PeakXL.

A new 31.5 km circuit nestled along the banks of Conestogo Lake, the route traverses through a unique recreational area situated among tranquil farming lands and scenic rolling terrain. Wind conditions will play an important part in the race to take place among the combination of winding tree-lined roads and wide open spaces atop the Conestogo Highlands. Well over one million dollars worth of the finest in velocipede craftsmanship will take to the roadways of Mapleton Township for this annual contest of strength, endurance and tactics.

New for 2005: Pre-registration is mandatory On-line pre-registration is available at www.canadiancyclist.com. Pre-registration closes at midnight Wednesday June 22. There will be no registration on race day.

Registration
There is no day-of registration. Pre-registration is mandatory. Registration is restricted to residents of Ontario. UCI Ontario-licensed riders as well as Under-17 age riders with OCA Citizen Permits are eligible to register. For unlicensed riders, proof of Ontario residency must be presented at sign-in and may include an Ontario driver’s licence or a current Ontario health card. Unlicensed riders may register by purchasing a One Event Race Permit for an additional $10.00. An OCA representative will be on-site to handle licensing issues.

Sign-on
Sign-on opens at 7h30 and closes at 9h30.

Technical Guide
There is a detailed technical guide available in .pdf format on the web site (www.extremeroad.com) and it contains full information regarding the course, schedule, event and equipment rules as well as maps and a description of prizes.

Video Finish System
The ExtremeRoad.com Video Finish System will be used for timing and computerized results.

Race Numbers
Riders are expected to supply their own OCA-issued road race numbers. For those without OCA numbers, there will be temporary numbers available for a refundable deposit of $5. Please bring your assigned numbers to registration & sign-on. Also note that if you were issued numbers in the range 1-99 at a previous race that those numbers cannot be used at this race. Please contact the OCA if you are unsure of your assigned road race number.

Prizes
In addition to over $1000.00 in cash prizes, there will be Provincial Championship medals presented to the top 3 in each category, plus a Championship jersey and plaque to the overall winner in each category. Medals, plaques and championship jerseys are awarded to the top licensed riders in each category. Unlicensed riders are not eligible for medals, plaques and jerseys. Unlicensed riders who finish in the top 3 will be awarded merchandise prizes. Please see the technical guide for details.

Directions
From Toronto, take Hwy 401 west and exit at Hwy 8 to Kitchener. Go approx. 10 km then exit to Hwy 85 Waterloo. Go approx. 20 km then turn left on Regional Road 85 towards Listowel (there is a sign to Conestogo Lake at this corner). Go approx. 5 km then turn left on Hwy 86 towards Listowel. Go approx. 14 km then turn right at Dorking on Wellington Road 11. Go approx. 2 km then turn right and continue on Wellington Road 11. Go approx 1 km then turn left and continue on Wellington Road 11 towards Drayton. Go approx. 300m then turn right into the Lower Park Entrance at Conestogo Lake Conservation Area and follow directions to parking. There is a discount gate fee of $3 per person for race participants and spectators in the Lower Park only. The Upper (Main) Park will still charge regular rates. Please have exact change ready when pulling up to the gate entrance.

From London, take Hwy 401 east and exit at Regional Rd 8 (King St E) to Kitchener. Follow King St E for approx. 4 km then take the Hwy 8 on-ramp to Kitchener. Follow the directions as above from Hwy 8.

The long-range weather outlook for Conestogo Lake for the entire week including race day calls for calm winds and highs in the mid-20’s.
