Robin Baillie won the Beatton River cyclo-cross race, Sunday, with 16 laps in 1 hour. Mike Heintzman was second, Pat Ferris third and Roger St. Jean 4th, all at 14 laps.

There was a season high crowd of thirteen riders on the start line, under sunny and warm fall conditions. Mike Heintzman led out the first lap with Pat Ferris and Robin Baillie close behind. After a short stop to put a chain back on, Robin Baillie took over and left everyone far behind.

Sam Keats was 5th at 13 laps. Gord Harris was 6th and Kevin Cooper 7th at 12 laps. Richard Wood was 8th at 11 laps. Dean Lowry was 9th, Barb Polehoykie 10th and Adam Currie 11th all at 10 laps. Lisa Verbisky and Lucie Janosek both did 8 laps for the 30 minute event.

The 22nd Annual Blizzard Awards Banquet is coming up Saturday, October 22 at the Northern Grand Hotel. Tickets are purchased in advance for $20 from Ferris Fast Cycles.

Next Sunday is the club Cyclo-Cross Championship event. It is the final official cyclo-cross race of the year. It will decide the winner of the Å’Muddy Face Trophy. Mike Heintzman was the 2004 winner. Race time is 2 pm at Beatton River Park, on the 103 road.
