Technical Delegate Recruitment
Cycling BC is looking to recruit several members familiar
with racing who are interested in occasional contract work as an event
Technical Delegate (TD) at some Road events this summer. The role of the
technical delegate is to serve as Cycling BC's representative at the race. This
usually involves:
- Assisting the race organizer with registration
- Answering member questions regarding categories and
race licenses
- Assisting with awards, particularly for BC Cup or
Provincial Championship events
- Setting up the podium and back-drop provided to
organizers by Cycling BC
- Assisting the organizer with race results preparation
- Returning and forms or fees collected to the Cycling BC
office
We expect that each Technical Delegate will be asked to
work at 1 to 3 races per year, depending upon availability; most races will be
in or close to the BC Lower Mainland. Cycling BC will provide training and a
Cycling BC shirt to successful candidates. Remuneration includes a daily
honorarium and travel expenses. Since this role involves only occasional work,
there should be no problem with candidates continuing to participate in races
throughout the season, with the exception of those events where they are
assigned as the Technical Delegate. Applications from existing Cycling BC
volunteers such as commissaires or coaches are also welcome, as are
applications from members who participate in any of the cycling disciplines;
this program will likely be extended to other disciplines in future.
If you are interested, please e-mail a short cover letter
describing some of your experience as a participant or volunteer in the sport
to Kevin MacCuish at Cycling BC. (kevin@cyclingbc.net)
