Fresh into a very active retirement, former pro cyclist and Canadian Road Champion Lyne Bessette recently took part in the Raid International Éco Adventure this past weekend in St-Raymond-de-Portneuf.

In discussing the race with local newspaper La Voix de l'Est, Bessette remarked, 'I loved the experience but I don't think I'll do it again! It really quite hard on the body. There were teams there who just wanted to finish, but our team, we were there to win so we pushed ourselves really hard. It's the first time in my career that I have pushed my body as far - we never stopped moving.'

Though Team Spa Balnéa - comprised of Bessette, Georges Visser, Nicolas Lemaître and Jean-François Rivet - did not win the raid, they did secure the third place on the podium completing the four stage effort in 28 hours 12 minutes 44 seconds.
