With a strong international brand for bike accessories, Trelock, a global player, developer and manufacturer of bicycle accessories is now entering the North American market with an IBD exclusive concept.

Located in Münster, the German capital of bicycles, Trelock develops and manufactures locks, lighting systems and computers for bicycles. The products are sold by independent bicycle dealers (IBDs).

Trelock, an internationally recognized and expanding company established in 1854 in Germany is now active in more than 40 countries in Europe and Asia. "Inspired German Innovation" is the company logo of the traditional German brand. "Trelock North America" (TNA), the company belonging to the Trelock group, has opened an office in Burlington near Toronto. Trelock starts off with a selective dealers' concept on the Canadian bicycle accessories market. The Trelock Group is also an OEM partner with growing market shares for bicycle manufacturers.

In view of the traditional brand Trelock, TNA-director Joachim Winkler is optimistic about the market set-up in Canada. "The IBD here in Canada will be able to earn money with Trelock," he stresses. Trelock advises and delivers to the bike retailers in Canada directly from a Canadian warehouse and by its own sales force, a team with long-term experience on the Canadian bicycle market. The regions of Quebec and Ontario are already assigned. Further regions will soon follow.

The German products, with their good price-performance ratio, create a profitable base for the bike retailer. The dealers have access to extensive support through the brand manufacturer for point of sales material and advertising. Trelock has created a dealers' concept which is already very successful in Europe and which contains promotional offers and high quality sales support for the dealers joining the club. Joachim Winkler can only report positive experiences: "It is fun to build up the Canadian market with Trelock - we sense a positive spirit."

With the Dragon Line program, Trelock offers a complete assortment to the Dealers Club exclusively. The lock program, containing U-locks, folding locks, armored cable locks, curly cable locks, frame, locks, cable and combinations locks, is brand-new, as are the LED front and rear lights. Trelock is the first German company which implemented an energy efficiency system for lights. In short: the Trelock battery light developments use minimum energy input to get maximum power and durability. This is a value proposition for the Trelock light program. Trelock was one of the first companies in Europe introducing such technology for high power LED. It has been available in Germany since 2004. Bicycle lights are constantly developed by Trelock for the user as a passive and active safety benefit. The target here: to offer the usability of LED technology for everyone at a reasonable price.
