American component manufacturer SRAM has announced the introduction of a cyclo-cross specific component group, called CX1. Incorporating the 1x11 single chainring design first introduced for mountain bike, it consists of a drivetrain plus complementary brakes in cantilever, mechanical and hydraulic versions. gear ratios have been specifically designed for cyclo-cross. The drivetrain (without bottom bracket) will have an estimated retail price of approximately $1100 US. Retail availability is July 1st.
