Grundig World Cup #4 - Men
World Champion Jerome Chiotti of France launched a strong attack early in the second lap of the men’s 5 lap race, and looked unbeatable. However, reigning World Cup champion Christophe Dupouey (also France) chased him down, and the two were together by the start of the third lap. Chiotti then started to feel the effects of his attack and dropped off the pace (eventually dropping out). Dupouey went on to take his first victory of the season, with World Cup leader Cadel Evans of Australia dropping Miguel Martinez and Thomas Frischknecht in the last lap to grab second place.
Canadians did not fare so well, with Canada’s top two World Cup riders - Kirk Molday and Andreas Hestler - dropping out. Top Canadian for the day was Chris Sheppard (Haro).
