CCA and Louis Garneau Renew Partnership
Courtesy CCA & Louis Garneau
After twenty-two years of partnership and more than three-quarters of a million dollars in sponsorship, Louis Garneau Sports is proud to increase its commitment with the Canadian Cycling Association (CCA). As official supplier of the team, Louis Garneau will provide clothing, helmets and, for the first time, frames to the team. This partnership is will continue through the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
The first sponsorship between LG and the CCA was in 1984, the year Louis Garneau completed his career as a competitive cyclist at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Louis' wife, Monique, produced four jerseys and four shorts for the team, and Steve Bauer finished second at the road race. Subsequently, Louis Garneau and Monique Arsenault became full-time entrepreneurs and the official supplier of the Canadian Cycling Team.
The new CCA jersey is a return of the original red color. By changing the main color of the jersey, Louis Garneau has broke an old tradition of more than 40 years. The new design represented by the Canadian Flag is easy to identify and consists of more geometrical forms. We hope that this new design will inspire our athletes!
In 2006, the Canadian National Team will have 87 athletes in road, track, and mountain bike. Amongst them are some athletes renown for great performances in international events such as Marie-Hélène Prémont (silver medalist at the Olympic Games in 2004), Lyne Bessette and Eric Wohlberg. Some new talented racers have also joined the team such as David Veilleux ( Winner of the Tour de l'Abitibi 2005). With so many accomplished athletes, we are convinced that we will have a successful season!
This new partnership between Louis Garneau Sports and the Canadian Cycling Association will allow athletes to reach the highest summits!
