Island Cup MTB Race # 1 " Truth Serum TT " - B.C.

It's that time of the year to start the spring cleaning and this Sunday, March 12th, is the perfect opportunity to clean out the lungs and dust off the legs in the first Island Cup of 2006. Presented by Oak Bay Bikes, the " Truth Serum" Time Trial will challenge riders to a gnarly technical course at the Hartland Bike Park. The course is approximately 11kms long and should take the fastest riders about 30 mins to finish.
Speaking of " fastest riders " this is a great opportunity to race against some of North America's top MTN Bike racers on their home turf. Expect to see the likes of national team members and Rocky Mountain Bikes riders Max Plaxton and " Dr. Dre" Hestler , 2004 Athens Olympian Seamus McGrath, Trish Sinclair (Scott USA), Roddi Legga (Norco Factory), Drew Mackenzie (Sugoi) and downhill phenom Andrew Mitchell (Cove Bikes). Plus, let's not forget the fast racers of the mid 90's who call Victoria home and will be out to try to "slay" the younger racers in this " pin it, to win it" one lap wonder race.
Registration starts at 10:30 am with the race getting off at high noon. There are categories for all ability levels (beginner, intermediate, expert) and timing will be done by UCI Uber Commissarie Micheal Shea (so you know it'll be done right!) . Course map and directions to Hartland Bike park are online at www.oakbaybikes.com. Racers must have a valid Cycling BC license or be a member of a Cycling BC affiliated club (eg, Victoria Wheelers, Scwalbe, IRC etc.). Cost for the race is a paltry $15 and there will be draw prizes and snacks after the event.
