Atlantic Pedaler (AP) Launches New Service

AP launched an Atlantic Canada cycling podcast show, produced by Ken Trenholm (Summerside, PEI) who is also the founder of Atlantic Pedaler, Summerside Cycling Club, and President of Cycling PEI.

AP becomes the first and only cycling news podcast based out of Canada, let alone Atlantic Canada. There is only one other Canadian cycling podcast in Canada and that podcast is an educational video podcast from West Coast Style.

"It is all about creating a common and united vehicle," explains Trenholm. "these podcasts will feature interviews, events, and commentaries on anything and everything related to bicycling in Atlantic Canada." Trenholm says that although the podcast show is free for subscribers and will remain so, the show is accepting sponsorship for the podcast series.

For those interested in how to access it, the web site (www.atlanticpedaler.com) explains in step-by-step detail how to get the free AP podcast delivered directly to your computer automatically.

The current vision is to produce one 1-hour podcast show on a monthly basis. The first show, now available, is accessible through www.atlanticpedaler.com and features two interviews (Pat MacDonnell of Pictou County, NS; Bruce MacPherson of Charlottetown, PE), a report on recent AP awards, and news from the Canadian Cycling Association.

Next month's production is well in the works with an interview with John Ardelli of Sydney, NS, and features on the Tour de France, and a Red Hot Pick Event of the Month.

Trenholm believes the combination of web presence and podcast will create a successful residual effect. "Printed words are powerful but it is hard to 'hear' the passion beyond printed words. Our new radio on the web-like service let's listeners hear the passion that is pushing the pedals of our Atlantic Canadian cycling growth."

Atlantic Pedaler has grown since its launch in December 2005.

"It's really about promoting the cycling and bicycling advocacy that so much of this area has been doing for years . . . and putting a label to it, and putting it out there to learn from, and build on."

Trenholm concludes, "It's about changing the world one pedal stroke at a time."
