Evetns at Hilton Falls Conservation Area
Trail Work Day
With warm conditions and beautiful sunshine, 50 volunteers worked throughout the day to get all of Hilton Falls trails ready for the new riding season. Yes, all the trails. With so many wonderful helpers work teams were established to prune, rake and clear the ENTIRE trail system. Other teams did some rock work on the Bent Rim Trail, while others did dead tree removal. Future work projects have been identified thanks to the volunteers.
Thanks to the crews from The Bike Zone (Mississauga), Freewheel Cycle (Ancaster), lots of Milton area riders, Brian Sanderson (OGC) and Jim Best (IMBA Rep) for helping out. Thanks to Hilton Falls for the pizza and drinks after the work. The trails are now in great shape and Hilton Falls is officially open for riding.
All Weather Challenge Time Trial On Sunday
Once again the annual spring ritual of the All Weather Challenge Time Trial will be held this Sunday, April 2nd. All proceeds from this race will go towards the trails. There is a nice 5km loop for the youngsters and 14km loop for the oldsters. For more experienced riders you can ride 2 laps. There's no snow left, but the ever present rocky technical sections remain. The event goes rain or shine. There are prizes for the fastest racers and lots of draw prizes for everyone thanks to event sponsor Spokes 'n Slopes of Milton. It's lots of fun.
