Tour of Willamette
Mark Cunningham from Symmetrics has given us a brief update on how the team is doing at the Tour of Willamette in Oregon this weekend. From stage 1 (Friday, April 21st):
In yesterday's stages - In the women's 85 kilometre race Marni Hambleton finished 4th and Maria Lee 6th in a pack sprint.
In the men's 112 kilometre race a group of 8 got away on the last of four 28 kilometre laps. We had Christian Meier, Will Routley, and Svein Tuft in it.
After some attacks and counters Svein won solo by about 5 or 6 seconds over the break and about 30 seconds or so to the field. Svein also takes a 30 second time bonus for winning the stage. It was apparently very windy and supposed to be the same today (Saturday) but sunny.
Today (Saturday) is a 25.6 kilometre TT and a hard circuit race tonight.
Tomorrow (Sunday) is a big day of mountain climbing. The weather is great down there so they should have good roads to race.
