It is with great sadness that the Edmonton cycling community has lost one of it's most enthusiastic members. Lieutenant Bill Turner was a proud member of the Provincial Reconstruction Team where he served as a liaison between the Canadian military and the Afghan people. He was tragically killed, along with three other Canadian soldiers during a roadside bombing in Gumbad, Afghanistan April 22, 2006.

Bill was a member of Pedalhead Road Works over the last 6 years, and was one of our most energetic riders on the team. If he wasn't racing his bike he was volunteering with the cycling community to give back to the sport he loved. Bill was more than a racer, he was a friend. He was a person that was always positive in everything he did and put his friends and family first.

His enthusiasm for life was always reflected onto those around him and his laughter would always lift your spirits. He will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known him and his life will be celebrated by all his friends and family.

We will be hosting a memorial ride May 7th. Please check the website for more details.
