Whistler Blackcomb, developer and operator of the worlds most successful Mountain Bike Park, announced today that the company will start a new venture called Gravity Logic to assist other businesses in the design and development of park riding experiences. The consumer demand for lift-accessed mountain bike activities is growing rapidly on a world wide basis. It is widely believed that park riding has the potential to become a major force in the outdoor recreation market and that to do so will require the construction of a large volume of new and improved park infrastructure over the next several years.
Gravity Logic has been created to utilize the expertise gained building the worlds number one mountain bike park. The Gravity Logic team will work with other locations and businesses to develop riding experiences that will accelerate the international growth of park riding by creating facilities that will thrill riders of a wide range of ages, skills and interests.
Gravity Logic will be led by the team behind the Whistler Mountain Bike Parks success. Rob McSkimming, Whistler Blackcombs Vice President of Business Development will oversee the operation. He will be joined by Tom Prochazka, Mountain Bike Park Manager, Dave Kelly, Mountain Bike Park Developer and Jeremy Roche, Product Development Manager. Gravity Logic will also have access to a variety of other industry experts including freeride legend Richie Schley.
Park Riding is on the verge of exploding however, there are not enough new and improved riding experiences in enough locations to meet the demand, suggests McSkimming. Gravity Logic would like to help adjust that imbalance by working with other resorts and businesses to take the lessons we have learned at Whistler and apply them elsewhere. We believe strongly that this is a case of build it (right) and they will come.
Focusing on creating innovations in bike park design and development, Gravity Logic will provide the following services to interested areas: business and strategic planning; on-site trail design and layout; trail and feature construction and project management; custom training packages; mountain bike retail/rental consulting; event design and development; sponsorship strategy; mountain safety and risk management.
Gravity Logic will be making its formal launch as a sponsor of the National Ski Areas Association National Trade Show & Convention in Marco Island, Florida May 22-25, 2006. Gravity Logic will also be represented at the International Mountain Bike Association Summit/World Mountain Bike Conference in Whistler, British Columbia June 20-23, 2006.
