Gord Reid, the owner of Gord's Ski and Sports store - probably the first good bike shop in Winnipeg (opinion of many in the cycling community - ed) - was a driving force in the Winnipeg cycling community for many years. He brought in track bikes when the original velodrome was built for the 1967 Commonwealth Games and supported the local riders in a number of ways. Two of his sons sons, Eric and Jeff, were both great track riders and were on the national team during the early 1980's.
