Hamilton Loses World's Bid
The UCI has announced that Lisbon, Portugal will be the site of the 2001 Road World Championships. A southern Ontario group was also bidding for the World's (to be held in Hamilton), however, they were apparently unable to convince the UCI that the crucial live satellite feed back to the enormous European market was in place. Manchester, England will host the 2000 Track World Championships.
OCA Commissaire Woes
At the recent Ontario College of Commissaires meeting (Road), Valerie Davidge stepped down as Chief Commissaire for Ontario (it was the end of her term of office). Unfortunately, there were no other candidates nominated, so the position is vacant. Kit McCaffery, the Secretary of the College, will also be stepping down at the OCA AGM, leaving the College with two crucial positions unfilled. For racers and organizers, this means that next Spring could be a shambles, with the potential for races to have no assigned officials. If you are interested either of these positions, contact the OCA.
