The Montreal Women's World Cup and the Tour du Grand Montreal will be shown on television over the next month. The World Cup will be seen June 11th on Global at 1:30 pm, and on RDS at 9:00 am June 27th. The Tour du Grand Montreal will be broadcast on RDS June 8th at 8:00 pm, June 13th at 5:00 pm and June 16th at 1:00 am. On Global it will be seen on June 18th at 1:00 pm. All times are EDT.

The organizing committee of La Coupe de la Paix, the Quebecoise Federation of Cyclist Sports and the Canadian Cycling Association are proud to present 'La Coupe de la Paix Edition 2006'.

Road cycling has known a renewal of popularity in the past few years. In Quebec, we can count on a long tradition of cycling races with several prestigious events.

Federico Corneli, an inductee in the FQSC Hall of Fame of Cycling, was the organizer of the Corneli Omnium during the 70's and of the Classique Quebec - Montreal of 1988 to 1996. Mr Corneli returns to race organization with the presentation of the Coupe de la Paix.

Due to the success of the previous two editions of this race, and in order to answer the increasing demand for quality races from our athletes, La Coupe de la Paix has become a national series of three races in 2006.

The first event will be held from Thursday June 22, 2006 to Sunday June 25, 2006 in 3 municipalities of the Rive-Nord : Laval, Mascouche and Blainville.

This year we enjoy a prime position in the national calendar, between the G.P. of Beauce and the National Road Championships. This will make it possible for Quebec athletes to measure themselves with the best athletes coming from 3 continents - Europe, Oceania and America - while preparing in an optimal way for the championships. The series is registered as part of the National Road Ranking, so athletes will be able to gain precious points which will enable them to get a place on the national team.

We can already count on the participation of 3 national teams - Australia, the Netherlands and the USA. To attract the best cyclists, it is important to be able to offer races of quality with strong purses. A total prize purse of $40,000 will be awarded, largest ever awarded in Quebec, for a series of criteriums: $10,000 per race ($6,400/men and $3,600/women), plus $10,000 for cumulative standings.
