Not even the torrential downpours of Saturday's practice day could hold back the racers on Sunday morning. Over 35mm of rain fell on this 'brand new' course for 2006 and boy oh boy did it get broken in. But Sunday came around awith sunlight and heavy winds to dry out the glacial till that surrounded the course. As the day progressed it was the tight 'rooty' off camber switchbacks and multiple drops that became the nemesis for many as they tried to hold their lines.
In the Elite men's category Sweet Pete's Drew Pautler took the field by the skin of his chin, with only 2 tenths over Derek Cowell (Norco Factory) and 2.5 tenths over Justin Brown (Norco Factory).
In the Junior expert category Matt Zridluk (Team Dropmachine/Commencal) owned the field by a whopping 4 seconds to secure 1st over Kyle Lockyer in second and Mike Palangio in 3rd.
The Women's field was won again by vet Sheila Morris (Race/Momentum) over Celina Moore (race Momentum).
