Another beautiful day greeted riders and spectators at Sunday's Woodstack C.C. cyclo-cross. The course was set out in a school grounds with a number of steep climbs which were obviously designed to suit good runners (Warren Davies, perhaps?). All categories were started together which made the task of keeping tabs on everyone extremely difficult, as the faster riders started lapping the tail-enders after only three of the seventeen laps.

With Chris Hansen away in the States, brother Jeff (Neworld) took over the task of showing the way and led from start to finish, with only the top 5 competitors able to stay on the lead lap.

Woodstock's Warren Davies surprised everyone by staying in touch with Hansen for most of the race. Jeff finally pulled away slightly in the last four laps and eventually won by just 22 seconds. Third place was nailed down by Peter Morse (Chain Reaction) who crossed the line a further 49 seconds back and Independent, Andrew Croutch rounded out the top four, 2-13 behind the winner.

The Vet. A race was dominated by Dave Dermont (Bike Depot/GT) who, starting 30 seconds behind the senior pack, still managed to finish within two and a half minutes of Jeff Hansen. The Vet. B competition turned out to be the usual battle between Hamilton team-mates, Rob Cheskey and Randy Brown with Rob beating Randy to reverse last week's finishing order.

The junior event was a one man show, with Peter Mazur,(D'Ornellas) lapping the rest of the field and finishing with a time which would have placed him 6th in the senior contest.

National team member, Kim Langton, Elita, cruised through the women's event , handily beating Chain Reaction's Lisa Hussey while the cadet race was easily taken by newcomer Ryan Roth who lapped runner-up Taras Kleban (Hamilton C.C.)
