1998 ELITA Quebec Cyclocross Championships
(courtesy David Cathcart)
Despite a modest turnout, cyclocross fans from the province of Quebec were treated to a rousing exhibition of skill and endurance. In the Women's event, Team ELITA cross star Melanie Dorion, took it out hard from the gun and never looked back, besting OGC/Fisher/Oakley's Anne Marie Dozois and fellow Team ELITA teammate, Annie Gariepy. An hour later only a freight train (literally!!!) could interrupt Paul Spadacinni's (OGC/Fisher) cyclocross dominance over birthday boy Bill Hurley (Oryx), and Fisher teammate Bruno Lafontaine. The veteran's category was brought home by another Fisher rider - Colin Campbell of Ottawa - while the Junior Men's race was won by TVA/Vollkswagen's Benoit Martinbeau.
