Position: Provincial Coach
Job Description: Cycling BC, the sports governing body for cycling in the Province of British Columbia, is seeking a Provincial Coach to fill a newly integrated position between Canadian Cycling Association, Cycling BC and the club system in BC. This full-time contract position will run through September 30, 2008. Subject to extension of the Partnership Agreement and successful performance reviews, this position may be extended beyond the contract date.
The Provincial Coach is a key technical leadership position within the Cycling BC Performance System in British Columbia. This position is responsible for developing athletes who have a high probability of successfully representing BC in provincial, national and international competition, including the Canada Games, National and World Championships, Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The role will require the successful candidate to develop an effective working relationship with national team coaching staff, independent coaches, team coaches and club coaches to ensure the effective development of high performance athletes throughout the year. Specifically, the training and coaching of high performance athletes needs to be coordinates between all levels of development (Club, Provincial, National) in a cohesive and effective manner so as to maximize the performance of the athletes.
The key responsibilities will include development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of a comprehensive integrated performance model, provincial team program coaching duties, high performance regional development initiatives, and implementation of the Canadian Cycling Association Long - Term Athlete Development (LTAD) strategy. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and prepare provincial level athletes for future involvement in national team initiatives, and to provide enhanced service levels to the existing clubs and teams in BC.
Due to the varied nature of the job description, extensive work will be required in the field and the success of this position will be evaluated, in part, by the national prominence and emergence of the BC provincial team athletes to the national team and international levels.
