Registration for the NSCU Test of Metal Begins Soon

Race director Cliff Miller announced this week that registration for this year's NSCU Test of Metal will begin at 6 p.m. January 1, 2007.
"We wanted to ensure that people had time to enjoy their New Year's Eve and New Year's Day before having to register. We do recognize that mountain bikers like to both party and to play," Miller said.
With last year's race selling out in 4 hrs. 19 mins., less time than it took most people to finish the course, registration for the 12th annual NSCU Test of Metal, promises to be almost as exciting as the race itself.
"The stories of people spending six months filling out on-line registration forms as training for the big day is a bit of an exaggeration," Miller laughed, "but we have had a lot of people contacting us to find out about the registration information."
This year again, the 800 spots available will be filled on a first come, first served basis. The waiting list will be unlimited in number and every two to four weeks organizers will fill the race spots that have been vacated.
New for this year is the 40ish kilometre "Pre-Test" on June 9th or those who wish to have a warm-up one week prior to the big one, or for those who feel that they may not be able to do the full test.
"For many people, the race is very intimidating," Miller said. "We're hoping introduce these people to the experience so that they can feel confident to try some larger races either later this year or the next year. It's simply grassroots recreational racing development."
Registration for the NSCU Test of Metal can be done online at 6 p.m. on January 1st at www.testofmetal.com.
Information about the "Pre-Test" will be posted on the same website in late February.
