Cycling in British Columbia is looking promising, with a new generation of promising rides gathering early in the New Year.

A Provincial Team training camp was held over the past three days in Vancouver, BC, for endurance athletes aiming at Western Canada Games and Junior World Championships. All athletes were tested on the track and a short physiological test using SRMs to measure basic aerobic capacity and sprint powers. For some of the riders this was the first time they had ever seen a track, and was their first taste of track riding. From the feedback and results, things are looking very positive.

This is just the start of things to come, and we are looking forward to making sure the next camp is a success in Victoria in March. If any riders feel they have been missed out, please contact Cycling BC. The next camp will include more riders and a much greater focus on conditioning.

Many thanks to Tim Kilcullen, Ed Schum, and Fred Rothengatter for their help and support during the last three days.
