"Everything new" is the motto for Sabine Spitz for this pre-Olympic season. The Olympic bronze medalist from Athens has joined the team "Ghost International", leaving Specialized after two seasons.
The "Ghost International" team is based in Offenburg, where the second cross-country World Cup will take place this year. The main sponsor of the team is Ghost, a German mountain bike company.
After two years on an American team, Sabine wanted to work again with German partners. She has shorter travel requirements and she will have more influence on development, surroundings and team presentation. The team manager is Jörg Scheiderbauer.
Ghost has just introduced a high tech carbon frame on the market, and also plans a cyclo-cross frame which is full suspension. Sabine Spitz will test this frame next year and help in the development.
For 2007 Spitz aims for good results in the World Cup. The highlight of the season will be the Offenburg World Cup. She also plans to start in the longer distances (marathon) at Worlds and European Championships. The season will be treated as a "test run" for the Olympic year (2008). The goal at the Olympics in Beijing will to win a medal again.
